“In 1930-31, head boxing coach at the University of Notre Dame, Dominic “Nappy” Napolitano, proclaimed these words when he, together with legendary football coach Knute Rockne, founded the Bengal Bouts charity boxing tournament to support the Holy Cross missions in Bengal ( now Bangladesh ). For the past 80 years, the young men of the Notre Dame boxing team have devoted themselves to this worthy cause, pushing themselves mentally and physically, engaged in a fight much larger than the ring in which they box.”
